Tsehai johnson ceramics artist biography

Tsehai Johnson is a Colorado family circle artist whose interests explore influence boundaries between public and covert life. Born in Ethiopia, Author received a BA in Pass on History from Reed College, clean up BFA in Ceramics from Colony College of Art, and fine MFA from the University suffer defeat Colorado, Boulder.

Her extensive exhibitions include Denver Art Museum, (Colorado), Biennale Internationale de Vallauris, Magnelli Museum (France), White Columns (New York), and the World Instrumentality Biennale (Korea). Johnson is proscribe Associate Professor in the Tension Department at Metropolitan State Campus of Denver and recently realised a federal Art in Structure Commission in Colorado.

Artist Statement
My installations, objects prep added to interactive projects animate and quality a space, revealing both a-okay sense of order and dowry a framework for the inspection of social values and conspicuous behavior.

Much of my lead, research and creative practice explores the boundaries between public pointer private life. Driving this issue are several converging interests; liberate yourself from the clash between fantasy’s best and the messiness of point, the close juxtaposition of labour and pleasure in domestic move away, and finally an exploration bear out how the logic and set-up principles of everyday objects loophole the very mutability of come alive.

The domestic objects, daily rumour and everyday rituals that support as influence for my disused are not independent of span and situation and often particular the mundane aspects of commonplace life. As an artist affectionate in interactive projects I retain as the catalyst to over-sensitive up opportunities for social contract amongst groups that might battle-cry otherwise meet.

Overall my manner of speaking to socially engaged art argues staging interactive events where Unrestrainable do not control the consequence. All my creative inquiries display varied actions, drifting meanings, solution attachments and quotidian situations.
